The system for granting employment permits to foreign workers in this state is comprised of Green Cards and Work Permits .The minimum salary levels which are allowed are for those earning at least E60,000.Those clients who earn between 30,000 and 60,000 will be available provided that the job they propose to do for which the Green Card will issue is one which is listed on a list of skills shortages.
Green Cards are therefore available for employees with annual salaries of at least €60,000 and for those employees earning €30,000 to €60,000 whose job is on a skills shortages list. They are granted for at least two years and pave the way for open-ended residence in Ireland. Importantly, a Green Card does not afford unrestricted access to move employer as, generally, Green Card holders must work for their first employer for one year.
Work Permits will be available for workers earning €30,000 to €60,000 who are not eligible to obtain a Green Card and provided they are not on the list of ineligible job categories. Advertising in newspapers and Fas is mandatory.
The application can be made by the employee or the employer but permits are issued to the employee.
Transfers - Company personnel with at least one years service and an annual salary of at least €40,000 can transfer within a group.of Companies The transferring employee must be employed and paid by an Irish registered organisation foreign employer.
Companies which have service contracts
Foreign companies who provide services must register as an employer in Ireland.
What about Spouses and dependants
Spouses of a permit holder can apply for a permit without the need to advertise the position or to pay an application fee.
New application forms - Applications for Green Card, Work Permits and permits for spouses and dependants are all done in teh same format using the same application form Intra-Company Transfers.require a different form Documentary evidence for each permit will be required by teh applicant .
